The release of P3D v4.1 is just a few hours away, and with the release getting closer, some rumours have been passed around that v4.1 will be a full reinstall, which is unusuall as all other updates on top of a new prepar3D version are just a client reinstall, leaving the P3D installation present. But as 4.1 brings many new large changes, apparently this has given the need for a full reinstall. However, Matt Davies has just confirmed over on his Facebook that the rumours are indeed false, the post reads…
*** P3D V4 USERS ***
There has been a lot of misinformation regarding the update process between v4.0 and v4.1 of Prepar3D.
This update does NOT require a full reinstall of Prepar3D, just like with every .X version, it’s always been an update of the individual components (client/content/scenery).
I am in the process of creating a video which will be available this afternoon showing you exactly how you update and also how you manage your scenery properly in v4 using the addon.xml method – this saves an incredible amount of time and effort.
Please, if you’re unsure, just wait for the video – I promise you it will save you endless headaches.
